indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. -Margaret Mead What you can do to encourage better birth practices in Turkey: 
Choose a doctor and hospital who follow the World Health Organization (WHO)'s guidlines for evidenced-based practices in birth:
1) Labor begins on its own 2) Freedom of movement throughout labor 3) Continuous labor support 4) No routine interventions 5) Non-supine (e.g. upright or side-lying) positions for birth 6) No separation of mother and baby after birth
Choose a doctor and a hospital which follows UNICEF's and WHO's 10 steps for a baby friendly hospital:
1) Have a written breastfeeding policy that is routinely communicated to all health care staff. 2) Train all health care staff in skills necessary to implement this policy. 3) Inform all pregnant women about the benefits and management of breastfeeding. 4) Help mothers initiate breastfeeding within one half-hour of birth. 5) Show mothers how to breastfeed and maintain lactation,even if they should be separated from their infants. 6) Give newborn infants no food or drink other than breastmilk, unless medically indicated. 7) Practice rooming in - that is, allow mothers and infants to remain together 24 hours a day. 8) Encourage breastfeeding on demand. 9) Give no artificial teats or pacifiers (also called dummies or soothers) to breastfeeding infants. 10) Foster the establishment of breastfeeding support groups and refer mothers to them on discharge from the hospital or clinic
If you choose to leave your hospital or doctor because he/she does not follow the guidelines above, be sure to TELL THEM so.
If you are dissatisfied with your experience, write a letter to your doctor, the head of your hospital, and/or the World Health Organization (see "Links")
